I am Hallie Uczen and I am a UI/UX & Gameplay Programmer
Based out of Wilmington, NC, I am a sophomore transfer student studying at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington towards a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Computer Science, minoring in Game Engineering, and concentrating in Digital Arts and Game Design. I recently graduated from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina, with an Associate in Applied Science, with a major of Simulation and Game Development Programming, in addition to several related certifications, viewable on my LinkedIn profile. I graduated with academic honors, in addition to being an honorary member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I am expecting to graduate in Spring of 2026 from UNCW.
My experience includes professional level projects working in both Unreal Engine 5 and Unity, with a focus on gameplay programming, UI programming, and designing and building software with the best user experience in mind.
Currently, I am a gameplay programming intern for Wispy Moon Studios, working on an unreleased mobile game application. I have previously collaborated with the Indie Game Academy on a released game, called Bots N-BLOOM, which is officially published on Steam by the Indie Game Foundry, of which I was responsible for lore guide UI programming and corresponding data entries. Additionally, I have worked with Central Piedmont Community College as an intern, managing a team of 4, to help develop an unreleased, educational, "Jeopardy" style game to be used by professors in the classroom to encourage engagement and learning in a fun and interactive way. I was responsible for delegation of tasks, project management, gameplay and UI/UX programming, and ensuring proper version control usage via Git Bash and GitHub.
As for a few of the other projects I have recently done, this past summer, I participated in an ocean themed game jam, and have a released game, called "The Abyssal Search," an online browser game that I worked on with a team of 4 as a gameplay programmer, which is playable on my itch.io website. Another published game on my itch.io is Kenna's Climb, which was also created in collaboration with the Indie Game Academy, on a game called Kenna's Climb, in which I was responsible for UI programming and designing and implementing a user friendly experience for the players.
A personal project published on my itch.io is called "Cherry Blossom Petals," and is playable on mobile phones online, featuring on-screen touch pad controls, jump mechanics, start, settings, and game over menus, as well as a health bar and in-game timer. It is still a work-in-progress. I have two unreleased cat games I am personally working on to be released on Steam and mobile in the future, called "Kitty Friendz," a tamagotchi style cat care game, and "Kitty Dreamz," a "Doodle Jump" style cat jumper game.
I have also worked extensively with the International Game Developers Association. During the 2023-2024 academic year, I was an officer member for the Charlotte academic chapter of IGDA at Central Piedmont Community College. I even had the honor to represent my school and academic club at the Game Developers Conference at San Francisco this past March of 2024 by volunteering for the IGDA at their expo hall booth, providing resources and info and fostering connections and business partnerships.
I am eagerly looking forward to the exciting future of game development and the game industry, and eagerly awaiting my next opportunity for a video game related summer internship to further develop and hone my skills in game development programming.
